Mission »
West Marin Community Services' purpose is to provide to the West Marin community emergency funds and supportive care to people in crisis, or who have special needs, and are unable to find assistance through any other means.
Self-sufficiency, human dignity and social justice are the values that guide our efforts.
Goals »
1. Maintain the Community Resource Center to:
- Provide funds and protective care to individuals, to prevent or alleviate crisis, with an emphasis in self-sufficiency.
- Channel basic human resources, such as food and clothing, provided by agencies outside of West Marin, and distribute them to West Marin community members.
- Coordinate or assist in the coordination of programs that enhance the social and healthy well-being of West Marin residents.
2. Raise funding through the West Marin Community Thrift Store to support West Marin residents in need. The profits from the Thrift Store will be distributed back into the community through grants and loans to West Marin community members and local nonprofits for social, health and human needs.
3. Recycle clothing and household items from West Marin back into the community through the West Marin Community Thrift Store at affordable prices.
4. Provide fiscal agent services to community programs and projects whose purpose is consistent with the mission of West Marin Community Services.
5. Provide services in a manner that is sensitive to cultural, class, and gender issues.
